Shoving boxes around

So today I am cleaning out our storage unit. Trying to clear it out by the 1st so we don't have to pay more rent. Borrowed a truck and am shoving boxes around and putting them in the garage. Then the plan is to go through them and hopefully decide to get rid of much of it by Friday when the garage sale is scheduled. Motivation. The only problem is I couldn't sleep last night!!!! I laid in bed for an hour and then got up and read an entire book. Even Now- by Karen Kingsbury. Definitely a feel good read. So only got 6 hours of sleep. Now to normal people that would be a survivable day but me-I need my sleep. Just ask my husband.

In fact somehow I managed to get a master's degree without ever losing sleep due to school. Now I may have lost sleep due to having too much fun but I always figured it would be more productive to get sleep and work the next day than to stay up studying and be cranky the following day. In fact most nights before tests I usually don't study- even if I'm not really prepared. Too stressful- I remember many nights where I would turn in early before a big test- start a new book and then end up staying up till 2 AM reading the book. Yeah- I guess I don't work well under pressure.

So this morning, as tired as I was, I went to the gym. By 10 AM I was so tired I was having trouble doing the cool down stretches and about to fall apart right on my gym mat. The concept of doing heavy lifting after that was a bit overwhelming. I was like- "I think I'll go home and take a nap..."

Yes it is true. I am whining about my poor life I lead- where I have no job, I stay up till 2 AM, and still, thanks to my great husband, can afford to go the gym. So thus I am pressing on and will at least get everything out of the storage unit today. I am halfway done. Just taking a little... break.

So I feel like I could be intelligent and talk about the economic crisis. The house vetoed Bush's 700 billon bailout this morning. I am not sure how I feel about it. I think maybe the companies should deal with their own mess and go bankrupt but then if society in general is going to hurt by these companies crumbling (meaning I or my friends or my family will suffer huge financial losses or hardship) maybe the bailout is a good idea. Not sure. Just happy that I have a job and my husband has a job.

And on another note I am totally kicking Brian's butt on our fantasy football matchup. Just waiting for tonights game to seal the deal. Right now it's like 113 to 78. ..... So glad he invited me to join :)

Musings in the wee hours of the morning

I am up at 1:26 AM. I have been laying in bed for an hour and half trying to fall asleep. Not working. This is jet lag at it's finest.
We flew all night Thursday night. I actually was able to sleep at few hours. Promptly got home around 9 AM and I slept until 1 PM or so. Got up and had a lazy day with Brian and then tried to go to bed around Midnight. So I've been laying in bed listening to Adventures in Odyssey until the CD finally gave out. The case of the secret room- good story. Highly recommend it.

I want to be awake for church tomorrow. Just need to go worship and fellowship with people. I've been reading the "Yada Yada Prayer Group" by Neta Jackson. Such good books about a Women's prayer group that goes through lots of stuff together. Makes me more excited about starting the Women's Bible study in a few days. The books are always talking about prayer and praising God through prayer rather than just making lots of requests. So I'm laying in bed just praising God about how blessed we are and just so many awesome things are going right this year. But it's easy to sink into requests.

Hawaii- awesome. I will post pictures soon. Just my camera is in the bedroom where Brian is sleeping. We spent the rest of the vacation on Waikiki beach and it was beautiful. Crowds of people and lots of restaurants and shopping. Way fun. I burned my knees the day before we left at the beach. I'm just glad I did it the day before we left and not the day we got there! I got a shirt that says "Little Miss Sunshine For President." One of my favorite parts about the trip was our tour of the U.S.S. Missouri. We had a personal two hour tour and learned all sorts of things about the battleship. On the ship in 1945 Japan surrendered to the US in WWII. It is also the largest battleship in US history.

Now going to have a Garage Sale next Friday. Should be fun. I've been laying in bed planning on how to get tables to display our wares. Have it all planned in my head but haven't lifted a finger yet to start. So frustrating how the mind works so much faster than the body.

James 5:16 "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

Sunshine John PA-C

So Thursday morning I woke up spontaneously at 6:30 AM. Now other people may do that but I do not. Just ask my husband, any opportunity to sleep in I am there. But I am laying bed thinking I could check my exam scores and then the other thought is... we are going to Hawaii today. So I drag myself out of bed and my cute early riser of a husband is already awake. He's like I've checked your exam scores every five minutes since I got up and they are not up. Wouldn't that be awful if he knew before me? So I sit down and check my email and in my inbox is an email saying my scores were in that was time stamped the exact same minute I was checking. And I passed!!!!!!!! I am a PA-C. I can now stand proud as a certified Physician Assistant. Also know that I still have lots to learn. Who hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

On top of that I in my excitement I get to go to Hawaii on the same day I find out. Awesome. So we get to the airport and somehow we all get upgraded to first class. Totally our day. I was starving so we grab some Wendy's as our flight is boarding and rush on to the plane. I plop down in my seat and then realize that there is a rather large comfortable looking middle aged man next to me where my husband is supposed to be sitting. So Brian has to stand up in the middle of first class with a bag of Wendy's and wait for the flight attendants figure out who is actually supposed to be sitting there. (I wonder how many people in first class had eaten at Wendy's in the last year) It was the airlines fault. Their tickets both said 5A. But they ended up moving the comfortable looking man and letting me sit next to Brian. So we lay back in first class.
Now I did not realize (Because I'm too lazy to pay attention to these kinds of details) that is was a 6 hour flight. So about hour Four I am getting pretty bored. Kathy, my mother-in-law, and I get the bright idea we should throw M & M's across the aisle at the guys who are engrossed in a movie. This backfires on us as Rick rallies back by calling the flight attendant over and tattling on us. The flight attendant bends down and says conspiratorially you know I have more M & M's if you need some. So you really can do anything in first class.

So we get to beautiful Hawaii. We are staying on the north shore right now with an oceanside view. It is beautiful. Spectacular. Last night we went to a Luau. Way fun. Got lei's and ate amazing food and watched fire dancers under the stars. Here are some pictures.

Here's a perfect example of how I can't really be controlled. I have to admit this pic would be cuter if I'd followed suit :)

Packing Packing

So avoiding packing. I don't like to pack until the very last minute. I don't know how many people have asked me already if I've started packing yet. No- it is 4 PM and we are leaving tomorrow at 9:30 AM. A little too early to be packed in my opinion. I don't like to pack until the day I am leaving or if unavoidable the night before. I feel like I am more likely to forget things if I pack in stages because there are always my favorite things that I have leave out because I use them everyday. And what if I packed too early and then right before I left tried to throw all those great favorite things in and forgot one??? That would be horrible. I hate the half packed half not packed feeling.

I have however done the errand stuff. I bought sunblock and aloe vera for when I burn. (RED hair :) and I just got aqua socks at Walmart for $1.00. And my swimsuit came from J. Crew. I must say it is a tad more lime green than I had pictured and it am not sure it I can pull it off but will have much fun trying.

On a highlight. I got to go out with my sister-in law Kylie and my new Niece Hannah for lunch. I was quite distracted by Hannah because it was the first time she actually made faces and interacted with me. (She is a little over 3 months.) I was having so much fun playing with her I wasn't the best conversationalist and kind of forgot to eat a little. Way fun.

Brian and Hannah

Then my dear friend Judy came over and introduced me to KFC's little Bucket parfaits for dessert. I had never heard of them. But apparently they have been around for a while because Judy remebered them from her childhood back in the days when she wasn't a Vegetarian. I do recommend them. They were quite good. But I am scared to look at the nutrition facts.
Anyways. Next post I should be in Hawaii... Pretty excited.

No more teachers No more books!

Whoo hoo!!! I took my Physician Assistant boards today. They are long. Luckily I had the torture of taking the MCAT once upon a time and I have to say that the MCAT is slightly more painful. Also was way way more prepared this time. Still. I was scheduled for 7 hours at the testing center. Got up at 5:30 AM to leave at 6:30. I drove and hour and arrived promptly at 7:30. 6 hours of testing later- around 1:30. I walked out into the bright sunlight. I have to say there were way too many questions that I was like- I have absolutely no idea what the answer is. I hear that most people feel like they failed the boards when they walk out so I am trying to keep a positive attitiude. Supposedly I should find out in a couple days if I passed.

Now all the attention is on packing for Hawaii. And what is going to go on at our house while we are gone. Our house got powerwashed today in preparation for the painters who should be about finished painting our house by the time we get back. At the same time as I was talking painter our nice friend showed up to repair our shed. And did I mention there is still a leak underneath my kitchen sink!!! Fun fun. I plan to devote hours to sorting files and painting touch ups around the house once we get back.

Also have been working on starting a Women's Bible study with my dear friend Suzy. Two weeks from today. We are going to read The Organic God by Margaret Feinberg. I think it should be a lot of fun. I am in need of some girly fellowship and prayer.

Braindead

My mind is mush. I am taking my physician assistant boards on Tuesday. I have been studying and studying. I'm starting to freak out about what I should be scoring on the practice tests and what I am scoring. Should I postpone the test and study more? I have been studying 3 solid hours a day for one month. There is still lots I could go over but I know I've gone over most of the essentials. So one more day of studying and then the BIG day.

Then Thursday-Hawaii... pretty excited about Hawaii. I've ordered a new suitsuit. Check it out on super sale. Since going to the gym daily didn't quite get me into bikini shape decided to buy a cute one piece. Will have to work on limiting oral intake as well. Sad because I love food so much. And I got a cute sun dress at Walmart for cheap. And I've requested books from the library to relax and read on the beach. Did I mention I'm excited. Brian and I are going with my Inlaws who are a blast and we should have a fun vacation. We are trying to top the Disneyworld Excursion of 2005.

Also- I am trying not to think about the fact that I did so badly on Fantasy football today. I was projected to get 90 points and only ended up getting 51 and sorely lost to my opponent who scored only 78. LT and Addai didn't have the games I and they were hoping for.

Beginnings

So since I have grown quite an addiction to reading other blogs; I thought... maybe I should start my own. So here goes.
Welcome. I hope you enjoy these musing and adventures.
I grew up in Northwest Washington, met my husband, Brian, in Tennessee, and he moved me out to his hometown in Oregon.
I try to live life to the fullest. That includes walking with Jesus daily.
I just graduated from Physician Assistant school and start a job in Internal Medicine in November. Currently I am at home studying for boards and doing random projects around the house. I am well aware that will all change soon.
Right now Brian and I have been watching the entire series of Dawson's Creek. We're on Season 5. I know the writing and acting is not that great. But watch it a little and you too will become an addict. Plus I got the seasons on sale at Walmart for 15 bucks each. My mind is filled with the adventures of Joey, Pacey, Dawson, Jen, and Jack and I just want more!

Also while I am writing this post Brian is telling me to look up Electric Cars. This one is hot. It relies only on electricity. Unfortunately 255,000 dollars. We will have to wait until (1) they are sold in the US and (2) the price comes down or (3) move to Norway because they seem to have the edge. Either way we would have to save our pennies.
Well as we dream a pipe underneath our kitchen sink is leaking as the dishwasher runs. I just had the plumber out to fix the toilet leak last week!
